Door Alignment on the Isle of Wight

Prevention is better than cure! If your uPVC or composite door is hitting the frame when closing and/or the handles are a little difficult to lift, this is the time to call Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight to realign the door.

At this stage no major damage has been done and this is the cheapest/best time to react. Any further down the line, the door will be difficult to close and/or the handles difficult to lift.

Patio doors not locking in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 21st May 2024

The doors were out of alignment and the frame was slightly bowed. After a few adjustments the doors locked as they should. A very happy customer and a secure property.

Codelock required in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO3o - 20th May 2024

Only selected members of the management team are allowed access through this door. A codelock was installed to ensure access was controlled. The door was also a fire exit door and must always have access out without the use of a key. This set up is the perfect solution. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight installed the locking system and ensured a high level of security with safe egress in case of an emergency.

Fire rated door lock required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 14th May 2024

To ensure the buildings' fire regulations were complied to, a new British Standard Certifire Mortice lock was fitted to the apartment door. Additional branded keys were cut to allow all members of the family access.

UPVC door not locking  properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 13th May 2024

The door was out of alignment and stopping the locking mechanism from working. The whole door required adjusting as well as toeing and healing the full length glass unit. All completed within an hour and the door locked and unlocked perfectly.

Gain entry required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 9th May 2024

It's easily done, the door shuts behind you, keys inside and it's a slam shut locking system. No problem for Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight to get you in and safe. The customer didn't have their phone with them so their neighbour contacted us and within the hour the door was open. The locking system was checked with the keys and all was working perfectly.

Gain entry required in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 2nd May 2024

The door to the boiler room was locked and the keys were lost. The first job was to unlock the door, then fix the lock and finally fit a new cylinder with new keys. The cylinder was upgraded to the British Standard version.

Key stuck in door in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 26th April 2024

The door couldn't be locked as the key had jammed the locking system. One call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and within the hour the jammed key was removed and the locking system was free to work again. Safe and secure!

New thumbturn cylinders required for a Holiday Let in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 24th April 2024

To comply with fire regulations, the holiday let property required access out without the use of a key. New British Standard thumbturn cylinders replaced the current key/key cylinders. These locks reduce the risk of being locked in and egress in the case of an emergency.

UPVC door realignment in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 23rd April 2024

A composite front door was out of alignment and hitting the threshold when opening. The hinges and keeps are fully adjustable and after a little while adjusting and realigning the door, it no longer hit the threshold and locked perfectly. Realigning doors prevents any damage to the locking system.

New lock required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 17th April 2024

A new British Standard cylinder was required in a nightlatch. Also, the electric strike plate required adjusting to ensure the door closed properly. 2 jobs completed and the customer was secure again.

Broken key stuck in keyway in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 16th April 2024

The door was locked and the key had broken off and stuck itself inside the keyway. A gain entry and a nightlatch cylinder replacement was required promptly. Once inside the nightlatch was adjusted/repaired, a new British Standard cylinder was fitted with 3 new keys and now a fully working door.

Customer locked out in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 8th April 2024

The keys to the property were not working properly and the spare set had been lost. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended and the customer was safely inside within an hour. The front door lock was upgraded to the British Standard version and the customer was happy to have 5 new keys.

Thumbturn Locks for a Holiday Let in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 8th April 2024

The holiday let property required new thumbturn cylinders on all exit doors. A combination of timber and uPVC doors required egress without the use of a key. All the locks were changed and the new keys handed over to the landlord. All completed in time for the new guests arriving that afternoon. 

UPVC French doors not locking properly in St Helens, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 4th April 2024

The doors were out of alignment and required adjusting. The multipoint locking system was difficult to operate as well. Within an hour, the doors locked perfectly. Fully realigned, lubricated and cleaned. The customer was so pleased, they left a lovely 5* review.

New Home New Locks in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 2nd April 2024

The property was bustling with activity when Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight arrived. Electricians, plumbers and carpenters all working around each other. The garage door containing all the customer's belongings (and the consumer unit) was locked without a key. The first job was to gain access to the garage and then change all the locks at the property. The customer was very happy to be able to empty some boxes and be the only keyholders to their new home.

UPVC French doors not unlocking in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 28th March 2024

The French doors were jammed shut and the customer couldn't unlock them. They called Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and within an hour the doors were open and the broken parts were replaced. The customers wanted to upgrade their lock so a new British Standard 1* cylinder was fitted. 'Whilst I was there', another door required some realignment as well.

The customers wanted to ensure they were the only keyholders to their new home. 6 locks changed and upgraded to British Standard 1* protection to increase security. 5 keys per lock with colour coded key tags.

Door not unlocking in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 19th March 2024

The key wasn't unlocking the uPVC door. The handle had become more and more difficult to lift and this action had broken the gearbox mechanism inside the door. After an hour, the door was unlocked, a new gearbox fitted and the multipoint locking system tested. The door now works perfectly.

Customer locked out in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 17th March 2024

The customer had lost their keys and couldn't get back into their apartment. A quick call to and prompt arrival by Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and the door was unlocked. The building's management company supplied a new lock and this was fitted as well. All completed within an hour!

UPVC door not locking in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 12th March 2024

The property was going through some renovations and the rear uPVC door wasn't locking. The gearbox mechanism had failed and the locking system wasn't engaging. The parts were replaced, the full multipoint locking system was lubricated and a new British Standard euro cylinder was fitted. Now, the door was able to be locked and the property secured. All done within an hour!

Holiday Let requiring thumbturn euro cylinders in Seaview, Isle of Wight, PO34 - 11th March 2024

After a fire risk assessment was completed on the property, the findings required the property to have euro thumbturn cylinders on all exit uPVC doors. This aides exit without the use of a key in the case of emergency. Working closely with many island holiday letting companies, Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight replaced all cylinders for British Standard Euro Thumbturn Cylinders. They come with 5 keys each which helps distribute the keys to guests, landlord and agent. All safe, secure and compliant.

Summer House door not unlocking in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 7th March 2024

The lock had failed and the door wasn't opening. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry. The customer preferred to replace the lock themselves after some adjustments to the door were made. The customer left a lovely 5 star review!

Door alignment in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 4th March 2024

The customer couldn't lock their front door and called Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight. A common issue with uPVC doors is they become out of alignment and they require adjusting. After all the adjustments had been made, the full multipoint locking system was lubricated and the door locked and unlocked as it should.

New home new locks in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 29th February 2024

The customer had recently moved into their new home and wanted all their locks changing. They wanted to ensure they were the only keyholders to their new home. A variety of mortice locks, euro cylinders and thumbturn euro cylinders were fitted. They preferred the higher security locks we offer and chose to have Ultion 3* Plus euro cylinders and British Standard mortice locks. Now safe and secure in their new home.

Door and locking system adjustments in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 24th February 2024

A couple of sets of timber French doors required some adjustments as they weren't locking properly. The doors were bowed and after some adjustments to the hinges, keeps and locking mechanisms both sets were locking as they should.

New home new lock in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 20th February 2024

The customer had recently moved in their new home and wanted a new front door lock. I was very impressed to see no stacks of cardboard boxes as all their belongings were wonderfully unpacked within a week. New lock fitted, new keys handed over and a very happy customer to be the only keyholders to their new home.

Key stuck in the lock of a property in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 12th February 2024

The customer couldn't remove the key from the lock and called Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight to attend. Once the debris was removed the lock worked perfectly and the key would enter and exit the keyway as it should. All fully working again.

Locked out of a property in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 11th February 2024

The keys had been lost and the customers were locked out. The lock required replacing as well. Once the door was open, a new lock was fitted and after a small adjustment to another door the customers were handed their new keys. All done within an hour.

Snapped key in the lock of a property in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 5th February 2024

The key had snapped and the broken part was stuck inside the lock. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended and removed the broken key part. The lock was checked with another key and all was working properly.

Gain entry required to a property in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 31st January 2024

The timber front door had a faulty mortice sashlock and the owners weren't able to unlock the door. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended and gained non-destructive entry. After a new lock was fitted and tested, the owners were very happy with the new keys. To ensure the lock complied with their home insurance policy, the new lock is a British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock.

Change of door lock required in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 27th January 2024

After a swap over of tenants, a new front door lock was required to ensure the new tenants were the only keyholders to their new home. The nightlatch was the British Standard version so a new British Standard cylinder was fitted. New keys and a happy tenant, all secure.

To ensure the new homeowners were the only keyholders, new locks were fitted. 5 new keys per lock to distribute to the family and everyone now has their own key. One of the uPVC doors required realigning to ensure the handle was easy to lift and the door would lock correctly.

Locked out  in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 23rd January 2024

Gain entry required to a flat in Newport. The keys were left inside as the door clicked shut behind them. From call to inside within 30 minutes. A quick check to make sure the lock works properly. Happy customer!

New thumbturn cylinders required in a Holiday Let in Seaview, Isle of Wight, PO34 - 20th January 2024

To ensure the property complied with fire regulations, two new thumbturn cylinders replaced the locks in the doors. These locks enable the clients to exit the property without the use of a key. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight works with local fire specialist companies to help landlords comply with the regulations.

Front door not locking in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 16th January 2024

The gearbox had broken and the door couldn't be locked. This was due to a slight bow in the door and as the door was becoming more and more difficult to lock, it finally stopped locking. After a few adjustments, new gearbox mechanism fitted and the door realigned, the door now closes, locks, unlocks and opens perfectly. The customer said "it's never locked as smoothly as that since we bought the house, thank you".

Rear uPVC door not locking properly in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 11th January 2024

This is a common problem for Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight to solve. When the customer lifted the handles the mechanism broke and the door wouldn't lock. A new gearbox mechanism was fitted, the door was realigned and the full multipoint locking system was lubricated. All now working perfectly.

The property was empty and due to be marketed for sale. The customer had lost their keys and to ensure the new homeowners were the only keyholders, requested all new door locks. 45 mins later, the job was completed.

Timber door lock broken in Fishbourne, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 3rd January 2024

The nightlatch was an older version and after many years of service it had finally worn out. The customer was keen to keep the outside looking as original as possible, so only the inside case was replaced and some adjustments were made to the cylinder and keep. An up-to-date mechanism working with the original cylinder and escutcheon.

Gain entry required to a flat in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 29th December 2023

An emergency incident happened and entry to a flat was required. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained access to allow other services to enter the property. Once the incident was resolved, the property was then made secure. All sorted within a couple of hours.

Front door lock broken in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 27th December 2023

The lock was not only broken but also missing the keys. A new thumbturn euro cylinder was fitted, new keys supplied and the multipoint locking system was lubricated. This ensured the door locked properly. The customer was very happy with the job and they left a lovely 5 star review.

Locked out on Christmas Eve in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 24th December 2023

The customer had the keys in their hand, but the spare keys were in the lock on the inside of the door and the door wouldn't unlock from the outside. A call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and the customers were back in their home safe and warm.

Holiday Let requiring thumbturn cylinders in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 18th December 2023

To ensure their guests could exit the property quickly and safely without the use of a key, thumbturn cylinders were fitted on all exit doors. The locks were upgraded to British Standard thumbturn euro cylinders for extra security.

New home new locks in Brighstone, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 18th December 2023

New home in the beautiful village of Brighstone. The customer wanted their locks changing to ensure they are the only keyholders. All sorted, new locks, new keys in their new home. One of the doors was fitted with a thumbturn cylinder, just in case a quick exit was required, the customers could safely and quickly exit their home without the use of a key.

New front door lock required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 12th December 2023

The timber front door only had a nightlatch and the customer wanted an additional deadlock to secure the door. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock was fitted and an extra couple of keys were cut. The new lock ensured the property was compliant to their home insurance policy.

Remove broken jammed key and fit new lock in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 11th December 2023

The timber door was becoming difficult to lock and when the key was forceably turned it broke. Some of the key was still inside the lock and that was the only key. After gaining entry, Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight replaced the mortice lock and the door was secure and useable once again.

The key was becoming more and more difficult to enter the lock and unlock the door. This is the best time to call Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight. The customer didn't wait until it broke and potentially locking themselves out, they acted promptly. After a new lock was fitted and tested, the customer was very happy that the problem hadn't got any worse. 

3 x uPVC doors not locking properly in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 4th December 2023

The customer was finding locking all the doors in their home difficult. After investigating, the issues were not with the locks but with the doors themselves. Each door required realigning, lubricating and after some keep adjustments all the doors worked perfectly.

Garage door difficult to lock in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 24th November 2023

The door had started to become more and more difficult to lock. The uPVC door was only a couple of years old and had become out of alignment. After some small hinge adjustments and some lubrication to the multipoint locking system, everything worked perfectly. The customer was shown how to adjust the hinges just in case it happens again in a few years time.

New home, new locks in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 21st November 2023

After moving into their new home, the customers wanted to be the only keyholders. It was not known who had keys and access to the property. A new British Standard cylinder was fitted to the nightlatch and a new British Standard Deadlock replaced the old lock. Now the customers are the only keyholders in their new home!

Timber door locked and the key was broken in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 21st November 2023

Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry and replaced the faulty sashlock for a new insurance approved British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock and keep. 3 keys. Safe, secure and home insurance approved.

Side uPVC door not locking properly on a new home in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 20th November 2023

The door was not locking properly and then after being forced, the handle broke off. After a few adjustments, a new set of sprung handles and a new euro thumbturn cylinder was fitted, the door worked perfectly!

Rear door not locking properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 16th November 2023

Door alignment required to a uPVC side door. The door wasn't locking and leaving the property unsecure. After realigning the door and showing the customer how to do it in the future, the door worked perfectly. 

UPVC door not locking properly in Wootton, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 14th November 2023

After locking the door, it could still be opened by pushing the handle down. A new gearbox mechanism was required to be fitted and the door realigned. Another door was also out of alignment and required adjusting. After a good clean and the multipoint locking system lubricated, both doors were able to be locked securely.

Jammed and locked front door in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 9th November 2023

The handle had been difficult to lift and the key difficult to turn for a while. Unfortunately, the locking system broke and the door jammed. There was another door for the customer to use temporarily. On inspection, the gearbox had broken and the first job was to get the door open. Once open a new gearbox was fitted, new handles and after a good clean, lubrication and a few adjustments the door worked perfectly.

Burglary repair in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 6th November 2023

These things happen and a quick response was required to fix the issue. The door had its locking system damaged and parts were missing. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended the empty business property and secured the door with a temporary locking system and a new set of keys. The landlord was extremely happy the job was done so promptly. The new installed system is of higher grade than the original. The job was in the early hours of the morning and all completed within an hour.

New thumbturn cylinders for a holiday let in Seaview, Isle of Wight, PO34 - 1st November 2023

To ensure the owners are complying with the Fire Regulations guidance for holiday lets, 2 new thumbturn cylinders were fitted. This ensures the guests can exit the property without the use of a key and maintains security. Having 5 new keys for each lock helps all the keyholders have access to the property when required.

A faulty mortice lock was preventing the customers from entering their home. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry and replaced the lock for a British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock. This lock is home insurance compliant. The customers were very happy to be back in their home and out of the awful weather.

One of the first jobs on their new home was to change all the door locks. The customer didn't know who had any spare keys. All the locks were changed and upgraded to British Standard cylinders. Now the new owners are the only keyholders to their new home!

Front door lock upgrade in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 25th October 2023

Changing a front door lock is a common job to do. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight always gives the customer the option to upgrade the security of their property by offering higher quality locks. This door had a standard non snap safe cylinder and the customer decided to upgrade and have a British Standard snap safe cylinder fitted. Smart Lock installation in Wootton, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 28th September 2023

The owner of this lovely holiday let requested smart lock technology to manage the front door access. Once the smart lock was installed and the app downloaded the door's locking mechanism is now operated by a key pad, fingerprint, smart phone and remote access. The owner now gives their clients a code which will lock/unlock the door for the duration of their stay. The cleaner/housekeeper also has a code and any access can be controlled by the owner.

Front door on a rented property not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 23rd September 2023

These are the jobs that require urgent action. The key wasn't fully turning in the lock and the door couldn't be locked. The cylinder cam had jammed inside the gearbox. After freeing the cam, the customer preferred a new thumbturn cylinder in the door to ensure access out could be made if they ever lost their keys inside the house. It is always advisable to have one door with access out without the use of a key just in case of an emergency. After a few door hinge adjustments everything worked perfectly!

The gate's hinges were faulty and this created pressure on the locking mechanism which caused the key to break. There were a few problems with these doors, they were out of alignment, the shootbolts were corroded and the lock wasn't fully engaging the gearbox. All this was not allowing them to close/lock properly. After lots of adjustments, a good clean, lubrication and putting everything back together properly, the doors worked perfectly. No new parts needed and the customer was secure in their home.

The customer's tenant was locked out of their flat and required entry asap. A quick response was required and Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the property. A couple of issues were resolved straightaway as both doors required attention. A new cylinder was fitted in the nightlatch on one door and an overnight mechanism was fitted on the second door. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended the property to fix a common problem with euro cylinders here on the island. Corroded locks that cannot be locked or unlocked from the external side. An oil based lubricant had been used which unfortunately made the lock worse. A quick swap out and upgrade to a better quality lock solved the problem. 5 new keys as well!

Jammed shut timber French doors to a conservatory in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 7th February 2023 

These very large glazed timber French doors had slightly moved out of alignment and though general use had broken the mechanism inside the door. Firstly, the job was to open the doors and once I did this a temporary lock was fitted to secure the property. A local carpenter was able to realign the doors so I could fit the new locking system. A new multipoint locking system was installed including a new anti-snap lock and the doors worked perfectly. I work with many local trades to ensure the whole job is completed to a very high standard.

UPVC French conservatory doors not locking in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 3rd February 2023 

Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the home of a customer whose uPVC French doors wouldn't lock properly. The mechanism inside the door was faulty and required repairing. Once the slave door bar was removed, I could access the mechanism and refurbish it. No need to replace any parts, just an overhaul and lubrication solved the issue. I reassembled the door and mechanism and the doors locked perfectly. The customer tested the doors and was pleased they could lock them.

Flat door double locked with no keys in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, PO41 - 1st February 2023

The timber flat door has a nightlatch and a mortice sashlock and both were locked. No keys available. Lockforce Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry and replaced the cylinder of the nightlatch and replaced/upgraded the faulty mortice sashlock. The job was completed in a couple of hours and the customer was happy the property is safe and secure.

Broken key stuck in uPVC front door in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 27th January 2023

Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the property with the broken key part stuck in the lock. That was the last key available, so the customer requested a new lock.  A new anti-snap euro cylinder was fitted which came with 5 keys. I fitted the customers new handles and tested the door. All working. 

UPVC front door not opening in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 27th January 2023

The gearbox had failed and this jammed the door shut by not allowing the hooks to retract back into the door. The lock was also faulty and required replacing. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended the property and gained access to the locking system. Once the door was open a temporary overnight gearbox was fitted to secure the door. A new multipoint locking system was ordered and on arrival this was fitted. A new anti-snap euro cylinder was fitted and tested by the customer. Another job done and another 5-star review.

Key not turning in a set of French doors in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 24th January 2023

A glazed set of timber French doors with a seized mortice lock required sorting to allow access to the garden. Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the property and gained access to the lock. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock was fitted.  A rebate kit was installed to allow the lock to fit nicely into the master door's rebate. The customer was very happy and left me a 5* review for my work. 

Lost keys to a holiday home caravan in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 18th January 2023

The keys were lost to a holiday home caravan and quick access was required. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight promptly attended and gained access. We have attended the site previously and are always keen to act as swiftly as we can to not spoil the clients stay.

Latch on an internal cupboard door was not retracting in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 16th January 2023

The handle was moving up and down but the latch was not retracting and therefore the door wasn't opening. I retracted the latch and found some broken parts inside the latch. I fitted a new one and the door worked perfectly. The customer was very happy to be reunited with their forgotten items.

Apartment front door difficult to open, close and lock properly in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 13th January 2023

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight were contacted by a local house builder who had an issue with a door of one of their newly built apartments. After stripping down the locking mechnism and diagnosing the problem a quick replacement of the handles and a lubricating of the multipoint locking system solved the issue. All completed within the hour and the new homeowner tested the door and was very happy with our work.

No keys to a locked summerhouse in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 9th January 2023

Not an emergency call to gain entry to a timber summerhouse in a garden in Sandown. Lockforce Locksmiths gained entry and replaced the faulty lock. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock with fitted. The customer was very happy to be able to access and lock the summerhouse. It was a lovely sunny and dry day and a pleasure to help out.

Urgent call to fix a locking system on a door at the Sainsbury's Local Store in Ryde. A quick response was required and delivered. Job done within the hour and all was safe and secure.

Lost keys, new lock required in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 1st January 2023

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended a property in Freshwater to change a lock. The keys had been lost and we normally fit the same quality of lock. Locked out in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 22nd December 2022

Newly installed front door had an issue with unlocking. The homeowner couldn't unlock the door and had left the key on the inside of the rear door. Within the hour I gained non-destructive entry. I also checked the front door and it was out of alignment. The rear door can be used securely until the front is realigned by the fitters. Most important of all, the homeowner is inside safe and secure.

Internal garage door to house not locking properly in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 19th December 2022

The lock on this door had a faulty latch and was stopping the door from being opened. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock was fitted by Lockforce locksmiths. This new lock is insurance compliant and worked perfectly ensuring the property was secure and allowing secure access in and out of the garage.

3 uPVC doors on a Lodge out of alignment in Newport, Isle of Wight - 17th December 2022

As the doors were out of alignment this prevented the doors from being properly locked. Lockforce Locksmiths attended the Lodge and adjusted the hinges and keeps to allow all the doors to operate correctly and securely.

There were a few issues with this door that required addressing. The locking system intermittently worked and the door was out of alignment. A snib catch was also faulty. The customer was very concerned they couldn't lock their front door. The lock had been a problem for sometime. The door was fitted some 18 years ago and was starting to become difficult to operate. A customer reported unwanted access has been gained to their home. New locks required. A new anti-snap euro cylinder was fitted which come with 5 keys. The locking system was also found to be faulty and this was replaced. To smarten everything up some new handles were fitted. Gain entry to a office in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 16th November 2022

A digital mechanical codelock without a code required replacing in a business in Newport town centre. The lock was protecting an office within the building. A new one was fitted and a new code set up. I explained to the customer how to change the code in the future.

A quick response was required to replace a faulty mechanism in the customer's door. I had a replacement and fitted this to ensure the door locked properly. Just in case the customer is ever locked out, they requested a keysafe to store a key. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight had an emergency call to gain entry to a customer's home in Cowes. A quick response was required and within minutes the customer was in and safe. Additional security was required at this home. First, I swapped out the faulty nightlatch and then fresh fitted a new mortice deadlock. Not just any deadlock, but a new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock, which ensured the property was insurance compliant. Nice new escutcheons to protect the door and the homeowner's privacy!

I arrived within 30 mins to an address in Cowes to gain entry to a property. This was a simple non-destructive entry and a quick lock change to help the customer inside and make their home secure. As usual, the kettle went on and we laughed about the mishap. I gave a little advice to help prevent this in the future and this was another happy customer.

UPVC front door French were jammed shut in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 26th October 2022

The front door handles wouldn't move and the key didn't fully turn so the door was jammed. It was a glazed door, so the only option was 'glass out'! I was then able to gain access through the door without causing any damage. The mechanism was faulty and the lock was sticking. Out with the old and in with the new. New multipoint locking system fitted and to be sure the property was secure, I fitted a new anti-snap euro cylinder. Glass back in, a good clean up and the job was done.

French doors to garden were completed jammed shut in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 20th October 2022

This job was not an emergency as the customer had safe access in and out through another door. The doors to the garden were the issue. The shootbolts were jammed and not allowing one of the doors to open. A small amount of manipulation to the locking system ensured the doors would open. A quick tidy up and some adjustments to the hinges and the doors were working again. No need to replace the lock, handles or multipoint locking system as some lubrication ensured they were all working perfectly.

A customer wanted us to change all the locks in her new home to ensure they are the only keyholder. A few little adjustments to some of the doors and new locks fitted. All safe and secure. The new locks come with 5 keys. Included in this job I fitted a thumbturn on one of the doors. This ensured the owner can have safe access out of the property without the use of a key. You don't want to be hunting around for keys in a crisis.

A completely jammed door in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 16th October 2022

A uPVC door wouldn't open and the handles were loose. The key wouldn't turn fully either. However, no need to replace the door. I gained non-destructive entry, replaced the faulty mechanism and multipoint locking system, fitted a new anti-snap euro cylinder and finally, replaced the handles. The door looked and worked as good as new after a good clean with uPVC cleaner and adjusting the hinges. 

Emergency call out to a care home in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 13th October 2022

A rear door to the building wouldn't lock properly as the key was stuck and not turning. The door couldn't be locked. Face mask on and a quick swap out of the faulty lock to a new anti-snap euro cylinder sorted the problem. A little lubrication of the mechanism ensured the door would lock properly.

To ensure a customer's property was insurance compliant a new lock was required. I installed a new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock. Also, a small adjustment was made to the current nightlatch to ensure the door locked properly. To help install the lock I used my morticing tool which perfectly aligns the drill bit to create the mortice pocket. Nice and neat finish.

An old lock required replacement in a timber door and the best one for the job is a British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock and a new keep. After fitting and testing the lock I made good the surrounding timber with filler to ensure a nice finish to the job. Additional keys were cut and put onto key fobs for each member of the family.

Fitted a child safety window restrictor to an upstairs window in a holiday let. The window was a lower opener and to reduce the gap when it was open a restrictor is ideal. The landlord had guests arriving the next day, so it was a quick turnaround. Another job done! 

Rear French doors not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 2nd September 2022

A quick turnaround was required to fix this problem as the new tenants were due imminently. The slave door mechanism was faulty and the lock was broken. Also, the front door was difficult to lock. Better to be safe than sorry, the landlord requested both multipoint locking systems to be replaced, a new lock and realignment of the doors as soon as possible. Completed the whole job and distributed the keys as required. Job done prior to the tenants moving in!

Handles loose and key not turning in uPVC front door in Lake, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 30th August 2022 

I diagnosed this issue as a faulty mechanism and as the multipoint locking system was very corroded a new system was required. Fitted a new system and realigned the door to ensure the door opened, closed and locked properly. Cleaned the profile of the door with uPVC cleaner and it looked and worked as good as new.

Faulty nightlatch in a timber front door in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 30th August 2022

Unfortunately, even the best locks have a lifespan. Replaced an old British Standard lock (25 years old) with a new Yale British Standard nightlatch in the timber front door of a lovely home in Ryde. The customer was very happy with the upgrade to the new style (locking internal thumbturn) and is fully compliant with their insurance policy. It also looked great in shiny chrome!

Large metal doors to a storage area were locked and had a broken key in its lock. I promptly attended and diagnosed a faulty lock. The uPVC front door was locked shut and wouldn't open. Luckily the customer had other doors to access the property. I gained access and replaced the faulty mechanism within the door. The doors were out of alignment within the frame. An adjustment to the hinges and keeps ensured the doors closed and locked properly. Sometimes the locking mechanism will not work correctly when the doors are out of alignment. Lubricated the multipoint locking system and everything worked fine.

Sometimes it's the smallest jobs that make the biggest impression. The latch had fallen off and was stopping the door from closing. I refitted the latch using a new tiny bolt and realigned the door by adjusting the hinges. Job done!

Our local locksmith Simon attended a property and gained non-destructive entry. The faulty front door lock was upgraded to an anti-snap euro cylinder. The customer was happy to find us working on a Sunday and to attend so promptly.

Isle of Wight Locksmith for an internal wooden door lock repair in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 1st July 2022. 

Our local locksmith Simon diagnosed the issue of the internal door as out of align and adjusted the hinges and keep accordingly. Also, the front door hinges were adjusted so the door would close and lock properly. The customer was pleased to be able to keep the original locks.
