Door Alignment on the Isle of Wight

Prevention is better than cure! If your uPVC or composite door is hitting the frame when closing and/or the handles are a little difficult to lift, this is the time to call Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight to realign the door.

At this stage no major damage has been done and this is the cheapest/best time to react. Any further down the line, the door will be difficult to close and/or the handles difficult to lift.

Even further down the line, the handles will be very difficult to lift and the key will be very difficult to turn. This puts pressure on the gearbox and either the gearbox fails or the key SNAPS!

New home new lock in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 3rd December 2024

A new British Standard euro cylinder with 5 new keys was fitted to ensure the new homeowners were the only keyholders to their new home. They didn't know who had keys previously and they wanted to ensure they had a higher level of security as well.

Front door not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 2nd December 2024

The customer was very concerned that their front door wasn't locking. The door was out of alignment and after some adjustments to the hinges and keeps, the door locked perfectly. Some advice and tips on how to prevent the door from becoming out of alignment, were well received by the customer.

Key stuck in lock in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 26th November 2024

The door was locked and the key was jammed inside the keyway of the broken mortice lock. Once Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight removed the broken key, the door was picked open non-destructively and a new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice lock was fitted. New lock, new keys, safe and secure.

New door handles in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 26th November 2024

A new set of stainless steel, fire rated, sprung and longer lever door handles replaced a broken set. Sometimes, the door issue isn't with the lock it can be just the handles. After fitting the new handles everything worked perfectly.

Front door not locking properly in Brighstone, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 21st November 2024

The uPVC door was out of alignment and not locking properly. After a few adjustments the door worked perfectly. Safe and secure!

Locked out in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 18th November 2024

The customers closed the door behind them as they were leaving the apartment and they looked at each other and asked, do you have the keys? 20 mins after an early evening phone call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight, they were back inside.

Internal door not closing properly in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 7th November 2024
 
The latch on the door had seized and was stopping the door from staying closed. A new replacement soft close latch was fitted which not only ensured the door stayed closed but also closed quietly.

Front door locked and key not working in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 7th November 2024
 
The cylinder had failed and was not allowing the door to unlock. The tenants were locked out. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended promptly, gained access and fitted a new British Standard euro cylinder. The tenants were very happy to be inside and reunited with their dog. Woof!

Extra security required in Newchurch, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 25th October 2024

The current locking system wasn't adequate, so a new home insurance compliant British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock and a new deadlocking nightlatch were fitted to the door. The customer was very happy with the new set up. 

Key stuck in uPVC door in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 25th October 2024

The keys were on the inside of the door and when trying to unlock the door from the outside, the cylinder failed. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended within the hour and replaced the cylinder for a new British Standard Thumbturn Euro Cylinder with 5 new keys.

Unlocking front door in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 8th October 2024

The door's locking system had failed and the customer was having to use another door to access their home. Not ideal. Once the door was unlocked and opened a new locking system was fitted, tested and fully lubricated. The customer was so pleased that they can use their front door again, they left a lovely 5-star review. 

New quick exit door lock required in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 7th October 2024

To ensure a quick exit and to maintain security, a new thumbturn locking system was installed on an apartment door.  This replaced a non-fire regulation locking system. The customer was very happy, especially noting that the new lock has 5 new keys which ensured they were the only keyholders to their home.

Missing keys in Totland, Isle of Wight, PO39 - 3rd October 2024

The door was locked and there were no keys. After the door was unlocked and opened non-destructively, a new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock was fitted which come with 3 new keys.

Key broken in lock in Seaview, Isle of Wight, PO34 - 2nd October 2024

The key had broken off in the lock and the door couldn't be locked properly. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight promptly attended and removed the broken key part. The cylinder was faulty so a new British Standard euro cylinder was fitted.

New lock for a flat door in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 24th September 2024

The keys were becoming difficult to use and the door wasn't unlocking properly. A new British Standard Euro Thumbturn Cylinder replaced the faulty one.

New lock upgrade required in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 23rd September 2024

The front door lock to a Cowes apartment block required an upgrade to British Standard. This ensured safe and quick exit as well as being insurance approved. New keys were cut for all residents to allow access whilst maintaining security while the lock was being changed.

New locks for a new home in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 12th September 2024

The locks required changing to ensure the new homeowners were the only keyholders. 3 new door locks all upgraded to British Standard and after some minor adjustments to the doors, they all worked perfectly.

Door not opening in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 11th September 2024

The sliding patio door had jammed closed and was not opening. The first job was to get the door open, second job to understand why the door jammed and third to ensure the door will close and lock again. All completed and recommended a new locking system.

New locks for a new home in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 31st August 2024

On moving in day, the customer wanted new locks for their new home. They also decided to upgrade their locks to British Standard. They are now the only keyholders to their new home.

Locked out in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 30th August 2024

The keys were lost to a commercial business in Cowes and a quick response was required. After Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry, a new British Standard euro thumbturn cylinder was fitted. 5 new keys. All completed within an hour so the business could operate without too much disruption.
 

Customer locked out of their home in Niton, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 28th August 2024

The customer had an emergency situation where they were locked out of their home. A call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and within the hour the customer was back inside safe and sound. Non-destructive entry, nothing damaged, nothing required replacing and all the locks were checked to ensure they worked properly.

Broken key in lock in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 23rd August 2024

The key had broken and a part was still stuck inside the lock. The broken part was removed and after checking why the key broke it was door out of alignment that was causing the key to be difficult to turn. The door was realigned and tested. All working correctly.

French uPVC doors not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 21st August 2024

There were a few issues with this set of French doors and after some adjustments and repairs to the locking system and doors, they once again locked and unlocked perfectly. The customer was given some tips on how to prevent this happening again and was very happy with the outcome.

Key stuck in lock in Nettlestone, Isle of Wight, PO34 - 19th August 2024

The key wouldn't turn in either direction and couldn't be removed. The lock had multiple 'cut' keys and the best option was to start again with a new British Standard euro cylinder which come with 5 new keys. Safe and secure within an hour.
 

Sliding Patio Doors not locking properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 14th August 2024

The doors were out of alignment and not locking properly. After a few adjustments and lubricating the full multipoint locking system, the doors locked correctly.

Door not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 15th August 2024

The guests of this holiday let couldn't lock the door properly. The key had become stuck inside the cylinder. Whilst the guests were out enjoying the island, Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended the property and replaced the faulty cylinder. A new British Standard Thumbturn Euro Cylinder was fitted which come with 5 new keys. Once the locking system was cleaned and lubricated the owner tested the door and so happy they left a 5-star review. All completed with 20 minutes!

New locks for a property in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 6th August 2024

A landlord was selling their property to the tenants and to ensure the new owners were the only keyholders, they wanted the locks changed. A couple of new locks fitted and after handing the over the keys, the property was now secure.

Doors to a holiday let not opening in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 2nd August 2024

The guests arrived at their holiday accommodation and the doors were not unlocking properly. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight arrived and adjusted, realigned and lubricated all the hinges, doors and locking mechanisms. A new cylinder was fitted, replacing a faulty one and all the doors worked as they should. All completed within an hour. Hopefully, this didn't disturb too much of their holiday. 

UPVC door not locking properly in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 30th July 2024

Unfortunately, this was due to the heat and the sun directly on the door. This caused the door to bow slightly and when trying to the lock the door the locking mechanism failed. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight's first job was to realign the door and fit a temporary locking mechanism to secure the property.  Second job was to fit a new locking mechanism and test the door. After a good clean and some lubrication, the door locked and unlocked perfectly.

Door handles very difficult to use in Brighstone, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 29th July 2024

On arrival, the actual issue was with the locks, the handles and one of the doors. The house door lock and handles were removed, repaired, lubricated and then fitted onto the garage door. The garage door required trimming so it would close properly. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock and new handles were fitted to the house door. A couple of extra keys cut and the customer was very happy with the overall job. 2 working doors, home insurance approved and locking as they should.

Signs of forced entry in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 25th July 2024

A door to a commercial property had sustained significant damage to the door and lock. The owners had keys but they were not working properly due to the damaged lock. On arrival, the first job was to gain entry so the business was able to open. The next job was to replace the damaged lock. All completed and a very happy customer.

Locked out in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 24th July 2024

The door clicked behind them and the keys were still inside. A quick call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and they were back inside their home. Non-destructive entry is something that we train for incidents like this. No damage to the lock or door.

Faulty nightlatch in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 19th July 2024

Sometimes it would work and sometimes not, this lock required changing before it fails and the customer is locked out. A new modern version nightlatch was fitted and a new keep cut into the frame. A new British Standard cylinder with 4 keys was included and after testing the locking system, it worked perfectly.

Front door not unlocking in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 18th July 2024

Not only was the front door locked and not unlocking, the outer porch door was also locked with the keys on the inside of the lock. It was very inconvenient for the customers to access their home via the rear garden. They called Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and both doors were unlocked within the hour. Some new handles were fitted to make access easier as well.

Locked out in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 12th July 2024

The customer was locked out of their flat and even though they had the keys, the door still didn't unlock. The failed lock required replacing, but first non-destructive entry was gained. The customer was inside and safe within the hour. A new lock was fitted and after some minor repairs to the frame, the door locked and unlocked perfectly.

A new front door lock required in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 11th July 2024

Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight received an urgent call to change a lock on the front door of the customer's home. After showing the customer a few options, they decided to upgrade to a new British Standard euro cylinder which come with 5 keys. Fitted and tested within the hour.

New lock on French doors in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 3rd July 2024

A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock with keep was fitted to a set of timber French doors. New handles, rebate kit and a couple of tower bolts increased the security of the property. The customer was very pleased with the work and left a lovely 5* customer review.

Front door not locking properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 2nd July 2024

The key worked from the inside but not from the outside. After removing the locking system from the door, lubricating the multipoint locking system, removing some debris, adjusting the strikeplate and putting everything back together, the door locked and unlocked perfectly.

New home new locks in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 24th June 2024

To ensure the new home owners were the only keyholders, new locks were fitted. 2 new British Standard euro cylinders (5 keys each) replaced the current ones. After the locking mechanisms were lubricated the doors locked perfectly.

Replacement lock for a commercial building in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 21st June 2024
 
To ensure the commercial building owner was the only keyholder a replacement lock was fitted. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice lock was fitted to comply with the buildings insurance policy. Insurance approved and now the owners are the only keyholders.

New thumbturn cylinders for a Holiday Let in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 20th June 2024

To comply with the latest fire regulations and after the fire risk assessment was completed, new locks were required throughout the property. Bedroom locks, cupboard locks and external exit doors had new locks. The customer requested a high level of security as well as ease to exit the property safely and quickly in the case of an emergency.

Locked out in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 18th June 2024

A late night call out to gain entry to a property in Freshwater. The customers had recently moved in to their new home, so after gaining entry a new lock was fitted. The new British Standard 1* euro cylinder replaced the original one. To ensure you are the only keyholders, new home new locks, it makes sense!

Front door not unlocking in Apse Heath, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 13th June 2024

The front door had jammed and the only access in and out of the property was using the back door. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight promptly attended and unlocked the door. A new centre case was fitted as well as a new British Standard euro cylinder and the customers could use their front door again.

Door handle not working in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 12th June 2024

The internal door handle on an uPVC door wasn't working properly. The spindle inside the handle had broken and was stuck. No need to replace the handles, just removed the broken spindle, fitted a new one and with a couple of spring cassettes installed the handles worked perfectly.

Gain entry required in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, PO41 - 5th June 2024

The house keys were in the garage, the garage electronic roller door locked itself and the customer was locked out of their home and garage. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry to a side timber door and the customer was happy and hopefully not too inconvenienced.

Locked out in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 4th June 2024

The customer unfortunately locked themselves outside their home with no keys.  Within the hour the customer was back inside. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry with no damage to the locks. 

New lock required in Totland Bay, Isle of Wight, PO39 - 28th May 2024

To ensure they were the only keyholders a new lock was fitted. A new British Standard euro cylinder with 5 new keys. The door was tested and everything locked properly.

Rear uPVC door not locking in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 24th May 2024

The customer was very concerned the rear door wouldn't lock and didn't want their home unsecure overnight. A call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and after 30mins of realigning and adjusting the door and keeps, the door lock correctly. All safe and secure!

Patio doors not locking in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 21st May 2024

The doors were out of alignment and the frame was slightly bowed. After a few adjustments the doors locked as they should. A very happy customer and a secure property.

Codelock required in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 20th May 2024

Only selected members of the management team are allowed access through this door. A codelock was installed to ensure access was controlled. The door was also a fire exit door and must always have access out without the use of a key. This set up is the perfect solution. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight installed the locking system and ensured a high level of security with safe egress in case of an emergency.

Fire rated door lock required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 14th May 2024

To ensure the buildings' fire regulations were complied to, a new British Standard Certifire Mortice lock was fitted to the apartment door. Additional branded keys were cut to allow all members of the family access.

UPVC door not locking  properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 13th May 2024

The door was out of alignment and stopping the locking mechanism from working. The whole door required adjusting as well as toeing and healing the full length glass unit. All completed within an hour and the door locked and unlocked perfectly.

Gain entry required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 9th May 2024

It's easily done, the door shuts behind you, keys inside and it's a slam shut locking system. No problem for Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight to get you in and safe. The customer didn't have their phone with them so their neighbour contacted us and within the hour the door was open. The locking system was checked with the keys and all was working perfectly.

The door to the boiler room was locked and the keys were lost. The first job was to unlock the door, then fix the lock and finally fit a new cylinder with new keys. The cylinder was upgraded to the British Standard version.

Key stuck in door in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 26th April 2024

The door couldn't be locked as the key had jammed the locking system. One call to Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and within the hour the jammed key was removed and the locking system was free to work again. Safe and secure!

New thumbturn cylinders required for a Holiday Let in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 24th April 2024

To comply with fire regulations, the holiday let property required access out without the use of a key. New British Standard thumbturn cylinders replaced the current key/key cylinders. These locks reduce the risk of being locked in and egress in the case of an emergency.

UPVC door realignment in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 23rd April 2024

A composite front door was out of alignment and hitting the threshold when opening. The hinges and keeps are fully adjustable and after a little while adjusting and realigning the door, it no longer hit the threshold and locked perfectly. Realigning doors prevents any damage to the locking system.

New lock required in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 17th April 2024

A new British Standard cylinder was required in a nightlatch. Also, the electric strike plate required adjusting to ensure the door closed properly. 2 jobs completed and the customer was secure again.

Broken key stuck in keyway in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 16th April 2024

The door was locked and the key had broken off and stuck itself inside the keyway. A gain entry and a nightlatch cylinder replacement was required promptly. Once inside the nightlatch was adjusted/repaired, a new British Standard cylinder was fitted with 3 new keys and now a fully working door.

Customer locked out in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 8th April 2024

The keys to the property were not working properly and the spare set had been lost. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended and the customer was safely inside within an hour. The front door lock was upgraded to the British Standard version and the customer was happy to have 5 new keys.

Thumbturn Locks for a Holiday Let in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 8th April 2024

The holiday let property required new thumbturn cylinders on all exit doors. A combination of timber and uPVC doors required egress without the use of a key. All the locks were changed and the new keys handed over to the landlord. All completed in time for the new guests arriving that afternoon.

The doors were out of alignment and required adjusting. The multipoint locking system was difficult to operate as well. Within an hour, the doors locked perfectly. Fully realigned, lubricated and cleaned. The customer was so pleased, they left a lovely 5* review.

New Home New Locks in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 2nd April 2024

The property was bustling with activity when Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight arrived. Electricians, plumbers and carpenters all working around each other. The garage door containing all the customer's belongings (and the consumer unit) was locked without a key. The first job was to gain access to the garage and then change all the locks at the property. The customer was very happy to be able to empty some boxes and be the only keyholders to their new home.

UPVC French doors not unlocking in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 28th March 2024

The French doors were jammed shut and the customer couldn't unlock them. They called Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight and within an hour the doors were open and the broken parts were replaced. The customers wanted to upgrade their lock so a new British Standard 1* cylinder was fitted. 'Whilst I was there', another door required some realignment as well.

New home new locks in Colwell Bay, Isle of Wight, PO39 - 25th March 2024

Once the smart lock was installed and the app downloaded the door's locking mechanism is now operated by a key pad, fingerprint, smart phone and remote access. The customer has a slam shut door mechanism and unfortunately the door closed behind them. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended and promptly gained non-destructive entry. Forced access repair required in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 1st June 2023

The timber frame, door and lock were damaged after a forced entry. Lockforce Locksmith Isle of Wight attended to sort out the aftermath as quickly as possible. A thorough check of all locking components resulted in some adjustments to the lock, no need to replace. The frame/door required some attention to ensure the door would close and lock properly. Glued, clamped, screwed and filled ready for painting. Everything was back to normal and working and looking as good as new.

UPVC French doors not locking properly in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO40 - 31st May 2023

There were a few problems with these doors, they were out of alignment, the shootbolts were corroded and the lock wasn't fully engaging the gearbox. All this was not allowing them to close/lock properly. After lots of adjustments, a good clean, lubrication and putting everything back together properly, the doors worked perfectly. No new parts needed and the customer was secure in their home.

Access required to a storage container in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 29th May 2023

The lock was faulty and the handles were jammed. The storage container has a high security locking system that had broken. After gaining access, Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight replaced the lock and released the handle. All done!

A lock was requested for a utility room to allow restricted access. A new codelock was fitted to ensure only those who have access to the code can enter. All worked and tested by the customer.

Emergency lock out in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, PO0 - 22nd May 2023

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight were contacted to attend a property to gain entry. The customer had left the spare on the inside of the door and their key wouldn't work. All the other doors also had keys left in on the inside lock. Once entry was gained non-destructively and after a quick check of the locks to make sure they all worked, the customer was in and safe.

UPVC front to door to property wouldn't lock properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 20th May 2023

This was an emergency call to attend a property that wasn't secure. The front door locking system had failed and required replacing. The back door of the customers' home wouldn't lock properly and the key was stuck in the lock. This is a familiar job and after a new gearbox was fitted, the door was once again lockable and secure.

Customer locked out of their home in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 3rd May 2023

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended a home of a customer to gain access as they had lost their keys. Once access had been made, a new cylinder was fitted to the original nightlatch so the customer felt secure that no one else had the keys. All completed within the hour!

Broken handle on a communal door to a block of apartments in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 28th April 2023

An apartment block in Sandown had an issue with a broken handle on the communal door. The door was open and couldn't be closed. Customer locked keys in their digital safe in East Cowes, Isle of Wight PO32 - 26th April 2023

The batteries to work the digital locking system had run out and needed replacing. The key was in the safe. Lockforce Locksmiths gained non-destructive entry to the safe and replaced the batteries. Tested the system while the door was open and everything worked perfectly.

To comply with their home insurance policy, the customer was advised by Lockforce Locksmiths to have a deadlock fitted to their front door. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock was fitted. Extra secure and insurance compliant.

The key wasn't turning fully to allow the door to lock properly. A temporary fix had been made, but not ideal. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended the property, diagnosed the issue, swapped out the lock for a new anti-snap euro cylinder and gave the customers a few recommendations. The property is now secure and the door accessible and the recommendations can be applied in the future.

Lock out in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 27th March 2023

The customer's tenant was locked out of their flat and required entry asap. A quick response was required and Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the property. A couple of issues were resolved straightaway as both doors required attention. A new cylinder was fitted in the nightlatch on one door and an overnight mechanism was fitted on the second door. The property is now secure and accessible. The new part is ordered and on receipt it will be fitted.

The customer was using the back door to access the property as the front door lock was faulty. The nightlatch was an older version and required replacing, but the first job was to open the door. Once the door was open a new nightlatch and cylinder were fitted. Back to normal for the customer!

The customer was concerned that they couldn't lock the door to an outside office. Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight was called and attended the property and diagnosed the issue as, door out of alignment. A few adjustments made and the door locked perfectly. Faulty front door lock in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 9th March 2023 

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight attended the property to fix a common problem with euro cylinders here on the island. Corroded locks that cannot be locked or unlocked from the external side. An oil based lubricant had been used which unfortunately made the lock worse. A quick swap out and upgrade to a better quality lock solved the problem. 5 new keys as well!

The timber door was slightly out of alignment and this made the key difficult to turn in the nightlatch lock. The key broke whilst turning and a broken part was stuck inside the lock. This is a common issue to resolve. The cam of the lock has jammed. The property was being renovated and the door wouldn't lock properly. A customer's home on the seafront is exposed to the sea air and suffered from corrosion to their front door lock and handles. Also affected were the windows as one of the handles was faulty. Jammed shut timber French doors to a conservatory in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 7th February 2023 

These very large glazed timber French doors had slightly moved out of alignment and though general use had broken the mechanism inside the door. Firstly, the job was to open the doors and once I did this a temporary lock was fitted to secure the property. A local carpenter was able to realign the doors so I could fit the new locking system. A new multipoint locking system was installed including a new anti-snap lock and the doors worked perfectly. I work with many local trades to ensure the whole job is completed to a very high standard.

UPVC French conservatory doors not locking in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 3rd February 2023 

Lockforce Isle of Wight attended the home of a customer whose uPVC French doors wouldn't lock properly. The mechanism inside the door was faulty and required repairing. Once the slave door bar was removed, I could access the mechanism and refurbish it. No need to replace any parts, just an overhaul and lubrication solved the issue. I reassembled the door and mechanism and the doors locked perfectly. The customer tested the doors and was pleased they could lock them.

Flat door double locked with no keys in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, PO41 - 1st February 2023

The timber flat door has a nightlatch and a mortice sashlock and both were locked. No keys available. Lockforce Isle of Wight gained non-destructive entry and replaced the cylinder of the nightlatch and replaced/upgraded the faulty mortice sashlock. The job was completed in a couple of hours and the customer was happy the property is safe and secure.

The gearbox had failed and this jammed the door shut by not allowing the hooks to retract back into the door. The lock was also faulty and required replacing. Lost keys to a holiday home caravan in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, PO35 - 18th January 2023

Latch on an internal cupboard door was not retracting in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 16th January 2023

The handle was moving up and down but the latch was not retracting and therefore the door wasn't opening. I retracted the latch and found some broken parts inside the latch. I fitted a new one and the door worked perfectly. The customer was very happy to be reunited with their forgotten items.

Apartment front door difficult to open, close and lock properly in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 - 13th January 2023

Lockforce Locksmiths Isle of Wight were contacted by a local house builder who had an issue with a door of one of their newly built apartments. After stripping down the locking mechnism and diagnosing the problem a quick replacement of the handles and a lubricating of the multipoint locking system solved the issue. Newly installed front door had an issue with unlocking. The homeowner couldn't unlock the door and had left the key on the inside of the rear door. Within the hour I gained non-destructive entry. The lock on this door had a faulty latch and was stopping the door from being opened. A new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock was fitted by Lockforce locksmiths. A digital mechanical codelock without a code required replacing in a business in Newport town centre. The lock was protecting an office within the building. A new one was fitted and a new code set up. I explained to the customer how to change the code in the future.

A lock was difficult to operate and required swapping out. We always match or better the quality of the lock that's in situ. On this occasion it was an upgraded from a 3 lever to a British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock. This ensured the property was insurance compliant. Nice and clean job and the property was secure within an hour.

Emergency lock out in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 27th October 2022

I arrived within 30 mins to an address in Cowes to gain entry to a property. This was a simple non-destructive entry and a quick lock change to help the customer inside and make their home secure. As usual, the kettle went on and we laughed about the mishap. I gave a little advice to help prevent this in the future and this was another happy customer.

UPVC front door French were jammed shut in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 - 26th October 2022

The front door handles wouldn't move and the key didn't fully turn so the door was jammed. It was a glazed door, so the only option was 'glass out'! I was then able to gain access through the door without causing any damage. The mechanism was faulty and the lock was sticking. Out with the old and in with the new. New multipoint locking system fitted and to be sure the property was secure, I fitted a new anti-snap euro cylinder. Glass back in, a good clean up and the job was done.

French doors to garden were completed jammed shut in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 20th October 2022

This job was not an emergency as the customer had safe access in and out through another door. The doors to the garden were the issue. The shootbolts were jammed and not allowing one of the doors to open. A small amount of manipulation to the locking system ensured the doors would open. A quick tidy up and some adjustments to the hinges and the doors were working again. No need to replace the lock, handles or multipoint locking system as some lubrication ensured they were all working perfectly.

New locks for a new home in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 13th October 2022

A customer wanted us to change all the locks in her new home to ensure they are the only keyholder. A few little adjustments to some of the doors and new locks fitted. All safe and secure. The new locks come with 5 keys. Included in this job I fitted a thumbturn on one of the doors. This ensured the owner can have safe access out of the property without the use of a key. You don't want to be hunting around for keys in a crisis.

A completely jammed door in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 16th October 2022

A uPVC door wouldn't open and the handles were loose. The key wouldn't turn fully either. However, no need to replace the door. I gained non-destructive entry, replaced the faulty mechanism and multipoint locking system, fitted a new anti-snap euro cylinder and finally, replaced the handles. The door looked and worked as good as new after a good clean with uPVC cleaner and adjusting the hinges. 

Emergency call out to a care home in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 13th October 2022

A rear door to the building wouldn't lock properly as the key was stuck and not turning. The door couldn't be locked. Face mask on and a quick swap out of the faulty lock to a new anti-snap euro cylinder sorted the problem. A little lubrication of the mechanism ensured the door would lock properly.

Additional lock required in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 4th October 2022

To ensure a customer's property was insurance compliant a new lock was required. I installed a new British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock. Also, a small adjustment was made to the current nightlatch to ensure the door locked properly. To help install the lock I used my morticing tool which perfectly aligns the drill bit to create the mortice pocket. Nice and neat finish. 

Composite front door not locking properly in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 - 29th September 2022

Key not turning in lock. Commonly known as a cam jam. I gained non-destructive access to the door and replaced the lock as this was faulty. Realigned the door by adjusting the hinges and keeps to ensure it opened and locked smoothly.

Broken handles and door not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 24th September 2022

Early morning call-out to replace a set of handles and to ensure the door locked properly. Unfortunately, the multipoint locking system within the composite door was faulty and required replacing. Temporarily, so the property would be secure I fitted an overnight locking mechanism and replaced the handles. Ordered the new parts and on arrival, I'll call back and fit them. The customer was very happy we could sort the initial problem straightaway.

An emergency call-out to ensure a front door can lock properly. I arrived as soon I could and replaced a faulty door lock with a new anti-snap euro cylinder. The customer was very happy to be able to secure their property that night. The new lock came with 5 keys. As usual I checked the door alignment and adjusted the hinges so the door would close and lock properly.

Front door lock upgrade in Totland Bay, Isle of Wight, PO39 - 22nd September 2022

To comply with their home insurance policy a customer requested an upgrade to their timber front door lock. A new 5 lever mortice sashlock was fitted and the customer was happy to be able to keep the door's original ironmongery. 

Sliding door alignment Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 20th September 2022

An emergency call-out to fix a sliding door that wouldn't lock and was difficult to slide. The door required adjusting and the mechanism lubricating. All done on the same day and the customer could sleep easy knowing their property was secure.

New homeowners require a new lock in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 - 17th September 2022

A uPVC front door required a new lock and also some new handles to replace the flaky originals. A new anti-snap euro cylinder was fitted which comes with 5 keys and some lovely white handles made the door look great. Also, ordered a new letterplate to replace the damaged one. I cleaned the door with uPVC cleaner and that's another job done!

Customer was concerned their front door lock was about to fail. The key wasn't fully entering the keyway, so the faulty door lock required replacing/upgrading. Mortice Sashlock replacement/upgrade in Arreton, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 14th September 2022

An old lock required replacement in a timber door and the best one for the job is a British Standard 5 Lever Mortice Sashlock and a new keep. After fitting and testing the lock I made good the surrounding timber with filler to ensure a nice finish to the job. Additional keys were cut and put onto key fobs for each member of the family.

Fitted a new bathroom latch and lock as the previous system was faulty. A little job in the smallest room in the house. Customer was very happy to ensure their grandchildren don't lock themselves in (and to keep them out)!

New Child Safety Window Restrictor in Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 8th September 2022

Fitted a child safety window restrictor to an upstairs window in a holiday let. The window was a lower opener and to reduce the gap when it was open a restrictor is ideal. The landlord had guests arriving the next day, so it was a quick turnaround. Another job done! 

Rear French doors not locking properly in Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 - 2nd September 2022

A quick turnaround was required to fix this problem as the new tenants were due imminently. The slave door mechanism was faulty and the lock was broken. Also, the front door was difficult to lock. Better to be safe than sorry, the landlord requested both multipoint locking systems to be replaced, a new lock and realignment of the doors as soon as possible. Completed the whole job and distributed the keys as required. Job done prior to the tenants moving in!

Handles loose and key not turning in uPVC front door in Lake, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 30th August 2022 

I diagnosed this issue as a faulty mechanism and as the multipoint locking system was very corroded a new system was required. Fitted a new system and realigned the door to ensure the door opened, closed and locked properly. Cleaned the profile of the door with uPVC cleaner and it looked and worked as good as new.

Faulty nightlatch in a timber front door in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 - 30th August 2022

Unfortunately, even the best locks have a lifespan. Replaced an old British Standard lock (25 years old) with a new Yale British Standard nightlatch in the timber front door of a lovely home in Ryde. The customer was very happy with the upgrade to the new style (locking internal thumbturn) and is fully compliant with their insurance policy. It also looked great in shiny chrome!

Business premises with a broken key in the warehouse door lock in Lake, Isle of Wight, PO36 - 26th August 2022

Large metal doors to a storage area were locked and had a broken key in its lock. I promptly attended and diagnosed a faulty lock. The uPVC front door was locked shut and wouldn't open. Luckily the customer had other doors to access the property. I gained access and replaced the faulty mechanism within the door. The hinges required adjusting to realign the door and then I lubricated the multipoint locking system and everything worked fine. The customer also requested a lock upgrade and I fitted an anti-snap euro cylinder which came with 5 new keys. Job done!

UPVC conservatory French doors not locking properly, Yarmouth Isle of Wight, PO41 - 9th August 2022

The doors were out of alignment within the frame. An adjustment to the hinges and keeps ensured the doors closed and locked properly. Sometimes the locking mechanism will not work correctly when the doors are out of alignment. Lubricated the multipoint locking system and everything worked fine.

The front and only door to a customer's property was locked shut and the key wasn't working. I quickly attended and gained entry to the property. Sometimes it's the smallest jobs that make the biggest impression. The latch had fallen off and was stopping the door from closing. I refitted the latch using a new tiny bolt and realigned the door by adjusting the hinges. Job done!
