Indisputably, crime is becoming clever, with criminals become more and more versed in how to open our windows and doors. There has been a large rise in the number of households investing in a Summerhouse. Unfortunately due to the expensive items kept inside there has been a rise in break ins. It is so much easier for someone to enter a garden and gain entry to outbuildings. Burglary claims on home insurance rise by over a third when the clocks go back, new research suggests, leaving many homes at risk when daylight saving time comes to an end. Homeowners have been warned to take extra caution ahead of the expected increase in break-ins when the clocks go back. Why do burglary claims rise when the clocks go back? New data from The Co-op Insurance revealed that burglary claims increase by 34% when the clocks go back. Claims data since 2013 show a consistent spike in the number of households targeted by burglars during the five months of shorter daylight between November and March. Burglaries were more likely to be targeted raids involving forced entry during the winter months, The Co-op found, with criminals acting under the cover of darkness. In the summer, break-ins are more likely to involve deception and be more opportunistic, with summer holiday season more likely to leave homes at risk. There have been a number of burglaries recently where entry has been made easily due to Thumb Turn Locks fitted on Front Doors. These locks are fitted mostly on new build properties in order to comply with Fire Regulations. I would advise that a Thumb Turn is fitted to any of the other doors in the property where there is no letter box or have a letter box guard fitted to your front door. In Middlesbrough TS3, we were called upon to assist in a sensitive eviction process. Our task was to ensure the operation was conducted legally and efficiently. After legally gaining entry to the property, our team of experts changed the locks, thus securing the premises and providing the landlord with a new set of keys. We were called by a lady who had just moved into a new property. After moving in, she soon realised she was unable to close her patio doors. We were called by a gentlemen who’d just bought a premises in Middlesbrough centre. He’d been given the keys to the fire exit door but soon discovered it wasn’t lockable. Window locked shut in office in Middlesbrough, TS4 - 20/10/2022
I was called a company whose employees window in their office was locked shut. The heat was unbearable and they needed the window open for some fresh air. We quickly arrived and gained non destructive entry to the window. They had no keys for it and wanted it to be secure on an evening when the office was empty. Water leak through door in Middlesbrough, TS4 - 24/09/2022
I was called by a couple who were having an issue with the rain water coming through their kitchen patio doors. The leak was caused by a gap in the patio doors. We quickly arrived and tried to find the issue. We discovered due to the door being misaligned it had created a gap in the seal and was allowing water to pass through. We correctly realigned the doors and the issue didn’t occur again.
Front door unable to open in Middlesbrough, TS5 - 12/09/2022
I was called by a lady whose front door was locked shut and she was unable to open it. We quickly arrived and assessed the problem. The gearbox had shattered making it impossible to unlock and open. We extracted the lock and manually unlocked the door. We stripped the mechanism and replaced the broken gearbox with a genuine one. We assessed and sorted any further issues on the door in the mean time.
Caravan lock out in Middlesbrough, TS5 - 05/09/2022
I was called by a gentlemen who was down south but had a caravan in Middlesbrough. He was informed the alarm was continuously going off but he had no way of getting in as he had lost the keys. We quickly arrived. We gained non destructive entry to the caravan and assessed the problem and made sure there wasn’t an incident occurring in there. We switched off the fire alarm and made sure it was safe. We secured the caravan before leaving.

I was called by a landlord who’s tenants reported their bedroom window was unable to be secured. We arrived and assessed the problem. The window handle had broken, making it impossible to lock. We fitted a new window handle and serviced the mechanism. The window could be secured and the tenants felt safe.

Commercial Premises Fire Escape Inspection - 22/04/2022
We were contacted by a company who were in the middle of a Fire Safety Inspection. Unfortunately 2 fire doors had no keys and would have to stop trading unless rectified. We responded immediately. Gaining entry to locked boxes without keys - 18/04/2022
Lockforce Locksmith Middlesbrough were contacted by a customer who had unfortunately had a family bereavement. Whilst sorting belongings they discovered 2 secure box’s with no keys. New House Problems in Middlesbrough - 26/11/21
I was called by a customer who had moved into a new house. They were having difficulty opening and closing and locking all of their doors. I arranged an appointment and inspected all the doors. Pregnant mother locked in at home in Middlesbrough - 08/11/21
I was contacted by a lady who was pregnant. She could not unlock her front door, unfortunately this was the only practical exit, she was panicking as she was due to give birth at any time! Concern for Welfare in Middlesbrough - 22/10/21
I was called by a property owner who was concerned for the welfare of a tenant. I responded immediately and met the owner and the Police. I then gained non destructive entry to the property to allow them to check on the tenant. Unfortunately the tenant was found deceased.

I was called by a lady who had been burgled. They had forced entry to the property by using a quick and easy method and located car keys then stole the car. I was called by a customer that who had valuable items stolen from their garage overnight. I repaired the damage and installed extra security locking bolts. I also fitted the same to 2 of the neighbours Garages.

I was called by a Landlord who had a property with a number of tenants. Following an Inspection they required locks to comply with the Regulations. I visited and fitted the correct locks to the exterior doors and upgraded the security. I also fitted the correct locks to the internal doors and cut extra keys on site.
Electronic Cash Till Lock Out in Middlesbrough - 21/08/21
I was called by a local football club. The keys to the cash till had accidentally been taken down south, unfortunately they had a big social evening that night and urgently needed to use the till. I responded immediately and was able to pick both locks allowing the till to be used for the evening much to their relief!

I was called by an elderly lady who’s front door had locked and would not open. She was very anxious as she could not get out of her house and the carers could not get in. I responded immediately. I was called by a customer who had returned home at midnight. When they had put the key in the lock it had sunk back into the door. I responded in 30 minutes and gained non destructive entry. The lock had been fitted by someone using you tube and they had unfortunately fitted it incorrectly causing the problem. I fitted the lock correctly.
“Early Morning Drama” in Middlesbrough - 05/07/21
I was called by a homeowner who had finished the school run and returned home to find that they were locked out. They had smashed a window to get back in but forgot that the inner door was bolted. They then called me and I responded in 25 minutes. I gained non destructive entry much to their relief. They then had to go and get treatment for a glass cut on their hand.

I was called by customer who’s partner had gone away for work down south. Unfortunately they had taken both keys for the safe with them, and the safe was not responding to the digital code. All the essential documents and money and cards were inside. I got to the customer the same day and gained non destructive entry to the Safe. I then fitted new batteries allowing the customer to reset the code and get to the essentials!

Just to be sure, they called and asked if I could have a look and see if anything could be done to save the door. I was able to fit a new Gearbox, Anti Snap Lock and Handles. I lubricated the MPL System and fully realigned the door. The door was as good as new much to the delight of the customer.
Door left unlocked for weeks in Middlesbrough - 18/03/21
I was contacted by a concerned relative, their elderly parent had just told them that they had not been able to lock their front door for weeks!! When I arrived the customer ( who was nearly 100 years young ) had also just lost power to the bungalow and was quite distressed. I was able to reset his circuit breaker as it had tripped and restored his power. The door was misaligned and the extra pressure on the locking mechanism had broken the Gearbox. I fully realigned the door and fitted a new Gearbox making the door as good as new.
Lock change for Local Charity in Middlesbrough - 02/03/21
I was contacted by a local charity who had an issue with a recently fitted lock. On inspection the lock had not been fitted correctly which had caused damage to the mechanism. I fitted a High Security British Standard Lock and cut an extra 2 dozen keys on site so that all staff could be given a key.

I was called by a family who had returned home to find that they had been burgled. The intruders had got in through the rear door, it had a lock on that offered little protection. A hugely distressing event for the family who unfortunately did not realise how easy it can be to gain entry if cheap old locks are fitted.

I then removed and inspected the locking system. The Gearbox had broken after many years wear and tear. I was called by a dog walker who had walked her dogs and put them in car, it was a hot day so she was getting some water for them but managed to lock her keys and the dogs in the car by accident!
