Call to help with french doors not locking in Tunbridge Wells - December 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells recieved a call from a client who requested assistance with a French Door set that could not be locked. On evaluation, it was apparent that the Multi Point unit's two hooks a7 lock bolt were not fully extending when handles were lifted.....indicating that the issue was in the Lock Case/Gearbox. The MPL was removed from the door and tested in the hand, confirming that the issue lay inside the gearbox unit. We had a replacement in stock in our van and we were able to change the unit immediately, which the client agreed to and which was carried out. The full MPL and the existing lock cylinder were cleaned down and fully lubricated. The completed job was tested by both Locksmith and client and the French Door unit was functioning perfectly.
Faulty nightlatch changed for new Yale nightlatch in Tunbridge Wells, TN1 - December 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells recieved a call from a client who needed assistance in dealing with a Nightlatch unit that was not operating. An initial visit had been made a week prior and the unit evaluated. The Nightlatch unit had indeed failed, but the replacement was not straightforward, as the unit had been affixed to what is an 'outward opening' door and the standard unit that was in van stock, could not be reconfigured to operate in the manner required. It was agreed that the specific item be sourced to be fitted a week hence. A Polished Brass Yale nightlatch unit was obtained, pre-configured to work on the particular door. The fit was thereafter, a straightforward one, carried out quickly and successfully.
Lock maintenance get things moving again in Tunbridge Wells, TN19 - November 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells took a call from a landlord looking for a local Tunbridge based locksmith after their tenant's front door lock unit was not working. The key was turning in the keyway and not engaging the lock bolt. On arrival and initial inspection, the Rim Cylinder (GeGe unit), was found to be very dry and was squealing when operated. The unit was removed from the door and examined. There was fine particulate found in the keyway, as well as some sawdust and coarser particulate in the centre of the mechanism. This was flushed out with lubricant spray and the lock case and lock bolt was also lubricated. As described above, the cylinder and lock bolt were thoroughly lubricated with Silicone spray. The unit was operating perfectly and tested by the Locksmith, with the tenant and her son. They were both satisfied at the result. The Rim Cylinder was a very specific GeGe unit, suiting the door and the MPL.

Bedroom lock problem solved in Tunbridge Wells, TN2 - August 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called by a new client who required assistance after his bedroom door had slammed shut and was now unopenable. We attended and identified that the follower unit had fractured and disintegrated. There was nothing for the spindle to drive. The broken pieces of the follower were extracted. After some effort, the obstructive piece of Follower was removed, and the bolt retrieved. The existing sashlock was replaced with a TSS 3 Lever unit. Some necessary chiselling work done to the door to accommodate the new unit and the door was once again securable. Thereafter, there were two small items attended to - a slightly damaged sash bolt on a kitchen door was /ground/polished at the relevant point, to stop it sticking, which was achieved. Plus the front entrance door was sticking on the threshold strip....This was also polished/sanded with a Dremel unit. The issue of the sticking of the door was cured. Client was happy.
Locked out of home in Frant, Tunbridge Wells, TN3 - August 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called out after a lock out situation. The client had accidentally locked herself out of her home. The front door handle was a lift lever unit with access via a letter box. We gained non-destructive entry and was able to open the front door. Once inside, the door was tested and it was seen that the top hinge was sagging, causing a misalignment of the door and it was catching on the door frame. Adjustment was made to the hinge to correct the misalignment and the door was able to open and close without impedance.
Gaining entry to locked kitchen door in Tunbridge Wells, TN2 - August 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out to a property by a woman who was unable to open the door to her kitchen in her home near Tunbridge Wells. The kitchen door was a PVC unit the gearbox was jammed. On inspection, it was apparent that the gearbox had a problem. The Thumbturn cylinder was not functioning and there was no movement in the closed-door panel. The thumbdrive unit was eliminated, allowing more complete access to the door/gearbox. The door was routed to expose access to the gearbox, and this was manipulated into a position where the door could be opened, which was achieved. The required replacement gearbox was not available from van stock and needed to be ordered, together with requested, new door handles. The new gearbox was collected and got to the client's home, where it was fitted to the MPL, which, in turn, was fitted to the door. We also fitted, was a new White Handle Set, adjustments made to hinges, which were sagging slightly & the unit was working successfully.
New locks installed in Tunbridge Wells, TN4 – August 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out this week to change a lock on the front door for a new client in Tunbridge Wells. The existing Lock Case and Rim cylinder were removed and replaced with new units. Some chiselling out of the door jamb was necessary to accommodate the new keep. New unit was checked by locksmith and client and worked fine.
New cylinder fitted to ressolve front door problem in Tunbridge Wells, TN2 – July 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out after reports of a faulty door lock on a property in Tunbridge Wells. It was discovered that the cam of the cylinder had become turned over and was blocking the reliable functioning of the unit. It was also discovered that the alignment of this door was off, requiring attention. The old cylinder was removed once the problem was identified and replaced with a new unit. The door hinge was also adjusted, as the door alignment was off. This may have led to the lock issue. Once corrected, the lock worked well.
Lock and door repair in Tunbridge Wells, TN4 – July 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called upon to help repair a lock on a door. On inspection, it was found that the base plate of the lock case was distorted and the screws anchoring the unit to the door were, accordingly, only loosely holding the unit to the door. The lock case unit was removed from the door and the base plate was hammered back into shape as best possible. The unit was then reassembled, tested and was working fine. Another problem solved.
Lock fitted to secure office window in Tunbridge Wells, TN1 – July 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called out to help an office manager in Tunbridge Wells. The client’s office was looking to close for the day when they found they had no way of securing a window. The client had purchased a small barrel bolt to attach at the top of the window but wanted us to come and fit professionally. To ensure the perfect fit we took a block of wood and trimmed to size, to attach to the fixed sash. The bolt provided by the client was attached to the horizontal of the opening window and the window was able to be secured.
Door locked and jammed shut in Tunbridge Wells, TN2- 20th May 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called out in the evening by a gentleman who had returned home and found it extremely difficult to open his front door. When he finally got in, he locked his door and it then jammed shut. We attended immediately. The gearbox of the MPL had jammed up and despite best conservative efforts, the door could not be opened. In discussion with the client, it was decided to cut through the bolts of the MPL. This was done and the door was opened. The MPL was not functioning and was removed from the door. It was also discovered that the lock cylinder was sticking somewhat, and it was decided to replace this item. An overnight lock unit together with a new lock cylinder was fitted to secure the door. Ultimately, a new MPL was ordered, and this was fitted shortly after. The overnight lock was removed and the new MPL unit was fitted to the door. After some attention to the one keep of the door frame, the unit was tested by technician and client and determined to be functioning fine.

It was necessary to order a couple of locks, one of which was a specialised application and not routinely carried. This was done and after two visits to fit the locks on consecutive days. Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells took a call from a client who needed 3 door locks changed which included the front door, bedroom door and garden shed door. The client opted to have 3 Vera cylinders fitted which we were able to fit on the same day as the callout. While on site we carried out a full home security survey to ensure the locks and entry points were all secure. The client has tested all locks and found all the works satisfactory. Tenant locked out of flat in Tunbridge Wells, TN4 – 10th April 2022

A notable callout this week was from an elderly resident’s neighbour who needed help accessing the property after reports of an emergency. Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells helped a client today who had been locked out of his home after the door had jammed shut. On this occasion we had to drill the lock to gain entry to the property. A new lock was fitted and now the door operates perfectly. The client was very happy to be able to get back inside his home and to have a fully functioning front door again.
Commerical locksmith services to fix door handle in Tunbridge Wells, TN2 - 7th March 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells took a call from a property manager who had reported that a tenant had broken a door handle off the main entrance door to their business. We were able to attend within the hour and carried out a repair to the handle and re-attached it to the door. We made the recommendation to the client that this should be seen as a temporary solution. The door itself and, more pertinently, its frame would require attention in order to maintain its functioning. A longer-term solution was mooted, as well as the idea that a specialist shopfront door company be involved. We had examined several other units’ doors in the same office block and had noted that the same handle failures had occurred, indicating a common, possibly repetitive, problem. This was reported to the client, who in turn has reported on to the property owner.
Nurse locked out after late shift in Tunbridge Wells, TN4 - 20th February 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out to assist a local nurse who had returned home after finishing her late shift and found herself locked out. She told me over the phone the key did not want to operate the lock. We attended the emergency callout and was with the lady in under 30 minutes. We tried to gain entry via manner non-destructive means however as it was getting late and she had pet cats trapped inside needing feeding. The customer agreed to let us drill the lock. We had the client back inside her home and secured the property for the night. We arrived the following morning to fit a new lock. Front door realignment and back operating perfectly in Tunbridge Wells, TN1 - 17th January 2022
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out by a gentleman who was having issues locking and unlocking the front door at his property. We were able to attend within the hour and fix the problem. The lock was working fine and the issue was in relation to a door alignment issue. After a great deal of examination and then ultimately, advice from a colleague, the adjustment points were discovered and the necessary adjustment made to the hinges, which corrected the alignment issue. Sliding door not locking in Tunbridge Wells, TN21 – 14th December 2021
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells had a callout to help a client after they had reported their sliding door on the front of the property was not locking. This was a security risk and we attended as soon as we could. On inspection we diagnosed the issue was with the door’s gearbox and the lock was working fine. We replaced the gearbox with stock on our van and the door was back operating and locking as normal. The owner was very impressed and happy her property could now be properly secured
Fixing door to kiosk in Tunbridge Wells, TN2, 20th October 2021
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were requested to attend to a problem door to a travel money kiosk. The door was operating with difficulty and was scraping badly on the floor and had been doing so for some significant time. Two of the three hinges on the door were loose, which we tightened, which did not really assist matters. We ended up lifting the door, albeit, very marginally. Nonetheless, a slight improvement was achieved. We passed the feedback onto the client who had a carpentry team that could take the door down and plane about 5mm from the base of the door and re-hang it. The problem now ressolved.
Nightlatch serviced in Tunbridge Wells, 16th October 2021
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells were called out for a simple service on a night latch which was sticking in its operation. We removed it from the door, gave it some ‘magic juice’....AKA WD 40 and re-seated it and it was working a lot better according to the client. It was a top of the range unit & only a year old, so the client opted not to replace it at the time. Frankly, it probably didn’t need to be replaced, although the lady is going to keep an eye on it & will call us back if needed.

Faulty lock and nightlatch in Tunbridge Wells, 24th September 2021
Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells was called out to help a customer with a faulty lock on their home front door. We assessed the situation and found the lock was not operating on the old solid oak door. We also noticed a faulty night latch which we peformed a quick fix on. To solve the issue on this occassion we had to fit a new union lock to the door and made some minor door realignments to have the door operating as normal.

Lockforce Locksmith Tunbridge Wells carried out a door handle repair for a pair of clients who rent out their property on Air B&B . I was their second call out after the first locksmith had refused to touch the unit as he identified it as ‘special & exotic’. It was a ‘different’ unit, only inasmuch as I hadn’t seen one like it before, but I saw no real issue with evaluating it. We stripped the set from the door and was able to rectify most of the damage and fix the issue. Another happy client back with a functioning door.
