Door getting stiff in Ackworth, WF7 - 26/11/2024
Lockforce Locksmith Pontefract received a called worried that their door was becoming difficult to lock/unlock and wanted things checking out before it became a more serious problem. On arrival, I stripped the door down, cleaning and refitting the MPL, realigned the door, and cleaned the handles and replacing their springs. I spoke with the customer about security and agreed that I’d upgrade their lock while onsite. Once everything was refitted, the mechanism looked and operated like new and they had a new lock which upgraded their security. This call probably prevented a bigger problem because the customer noticed early that something wasn’t right and got in touch.
Lost keys after motorbike ride in Knottingley, WF11 - 23/11/2024
Lockforce Locksmith Pontefract received a call from a gentleman who had lost his keys while out on his motorbike. Not only was entry needed into the house, but also the garage. Also, due to the fact that he had no spare keys, new locks were required on both. I quickly got the customer into his house and out of the cold rain. We changed that lock, I then moved to the garage where again I opened the lock and replaced with a high security lock to help protect his bikes.
Sticky door handles in Pontefract, WF8 - 21/11/2024
Customer messaged Lockforce Locksmith Pontefract after seeing a social media post regarding door handles sticking. On arrival at the customers property, it was clear that it was the lock that was sticking, meaning that on occasion the door was difficult to lock/unlock. Being a flat, this was potentially dangerous as it was the only way in and out of the property. I replaced the lock with a thumb turn cylinder, meaning that keys were no longer needed to lock the door from the inside, and also complying with current fire regulations. This prevented a potential life threatening situation had there been a fire or incident in the flats.
Faulty mechanism in Pontefract, WF9 – 16th November 2024
The customer reported being unable to lock their door. I identified the issue as an older mechanism no longer in production. After sourcing a suitable replacement, I made the necessary adjustments and fitted the new mechanism. The customer also opted to upgrade their locks for improved security against snap attacks. The door is now closing and locking securely.
Key stuck in lock in Pontefract, WF7 – 6th November 2024
The customer reported their key was stuck in the lock on an older wooden door. On arrival, I identified that the sash lock unit was faulty. I carefully removed the stuck key and replaced the old 3-lever lock with a new 5-lever British Standard lock. The customer was pleased to have a fully functional and insurance-approved locking system.

I attended promptly and replaced the keyless cylinder with an upgraded 3* lock. While on-site, I identified two additional entry doors with non-British Standard (BS) locks.
