Security Levels of Euro Cylinder We Supply and Fit in Grimsby

• Standard Anti Snap These are anti snap, anti-drill, anti-pick and anti-bump locks. This Level is not British Standard. The anti-snap is a single perforated edge of the lock, where upon the lock being snapped the working parts remain intact resulting in an increased difficulty of the cam being turned to open the door.

• TS007 1 Star - These locks are the same as above but contain a reinforced bar down the lock making lock snapping A lot more difficult. These locks are British Standard

• TS007 3 Star - 3 Star Locks have the same security measures as the above locks with the added security of an extra Anti-snap line (perforated edge). These locks contain a pin which fires into the cam upon tampering. This can result in the cam being disabled from the side where tampering has taken place. There are 3 main types of locks fitted to properties in the UK. These are:

Euro Cylinder - Identified by the shape of the lock. These are commonly fitted into MPL’s in both UPVC door and composite doors. But can also be found in some Mortice locks in wooded doors. These are now the most common house hold lock in the UK. Although these all appear the same from the front there are many standards. Standard Euro Cylinder, Anti snap locks, British Standards locks in 3 levels of security TS007 1 star, 2 star and 3 star. Currently a TS007 3 Star is the highest rating of Euro cylinder lock more information on these can be found below in the locks we use section... Euro Cylinders work by the pin being aligned into place by the correct key upon insertion then the cam the part in the middle of the lock will rotate allowing the lock to disengage the locking system in the MPL or mortice lock. There is also a oval cylinder the only difference is the shape is an oval supposed to the common euro cylinder shape. Mortice locks - These are found in wooden door as from the outside the key hole is the best form of identification. There are two common types of mortice locks a sash lock and a dead lock the main difference being a sash lock retains the door then the lock is not engaged (The bolt is extended) and a handle is used to open the door. A dead lock use solely a bolt which is engaged when the key is turned. Mortice locks are required to be British standard by insurance companies. This standard is normally BS3621 this can be identified by the British standard kite mark on the face plate (Where the bolt and sash come out of the door. British standard mortice locks are normally 5 leavers when the key is inserted these align then a curtain within the lock is allowed to spin then the bolt is retracted. Night latch - These are commonly missed call by the common brand a Yale lock. The lock from the exterior is identified commonly by the round lock face (rim cylinder). These locks are used for additional security and multiple occupancy households. These again are most common on wooden doors, they work by when the door is closed the latch catches in the keep attached to the frame. Meaning there is no need to physically turn a key to lock the door. Benefits to this type of lock are they can be open from the inside easily without a key (on non-British standard locks) allow easy exit if multiple people are inside the property. Down side are unless British standard you then need a British standard lock as well on the door for insurance purposes (unless interior doors have additional locks). Also if you shut the door and leave the keys inside you are locked out of your property. The principle of these locks to open is the same as the Euro cylinder where the key moves the pins into alignment but then instead of moving a cam in moves a Shaft the turn the night latch mechanism therefor opening the door. There are main types of keys which are used to operate a lock. For domestic and commercial building there are either a Leaver lock type or a pin lock type. There are many variations of these keys in sizes and shape. UPVC door locks usually consist of a MPL (multi-point locking Unit). This is the part where the hooks, bolts or mushrooms move along. The gear box is the part where the MPL is controlled from. Commercial thumb turns in Grimsby - 05/03/2024

We were asked to attend to a local business in Grimsby following a fire assessment by the local fire brigade whom requested that all external doors be fitted with thumb turn locks. We assessed all the doors some of which had screw in Adams rite locks and others had euro profile Adams rite locks in aluminium doors. We changed all the locks required with thumb turn locks so keys were not needed to exit the building in an emergency.

Locked out of Grimsby business - 01/10/2022

Lockforce Grimsby was called at 0710 to a busniess where the owners were locked out and need to be in to start trading. We gained entry to the failed digital door lock and allowed them to get the busniess open this was all done by 0755 we then replaced the faulty lock with a new one and they could even keep the same code.

I was called to a business in Cleethorpes where the customer could not use the back door to the business. I arrived the same day to get this door open again as the customer had lost the keys and the door was used regularly. Locks changed 

We was called to a house in Grimsby where then customer had previously rented out there house and they was looking to move back into this so they wanted the locks changed so they were sure whom had keys. The customer was shown the locks and they chose to have Anti Snap locks that where keyed alike so one key would work on all their doors. This was all done the same day as we carry sets of same key locks as well as keyed to differ locks.  The customer was happy that the locks came with 6 keys so there was no need for extra keys and they only needed one key to carry not a bunch of keys. 

We was called to a home in Immingham

Where the customer could not lock there door correctly. We attended In 25 minutes of the call where we went through the problems with the customer and took the MPL (multi point locking unit) out of the door and showed the customer the problem.  The customer asked for the part to be changed and asked if we could fit some new handles as hers where looking very old. This was all fixed and replaced the same day and the customer was happy that the door was like new and couldn't believe how smooth it was working again.  The customer was also an NHS worker so received our 10% public service discount.
