Keysafe in Milngavie, Glasgow, G62 - 9th September 2021

Lockforce Locksmiths Glasgow was called out to an address where the customer required a keysafe to be fitted to the outside of his house to allow a number of carers to gain access on a daily basis. A high quality, police approved keysafe was neatly fitted allowing the carers 24 hour access. The customer was delighted. 

Garage door would not open - 30th October 2019

Lockforce Locksmiths Glasgow was called by a customer in Anniesland G12. Problem was his up and over garage door would not unlock despite having the key, and the lock appeared to be unlocking but the handle would not turn far enough to open the door. On examination of the door I was able to locate the two locking points and with the use of specialist locksmith tools was able to get the door open. It turned out one of the steel rods on the inside of the door lock that moves horizontally to operate the vertical rod that operates the latch was bent and would not move. Simple solution, I was able to carefully straighten out the bent rod and the door is now working perfectly. 

Door handle just spinning - 20th October 2019

Lockforce Locksmiths Glasgow got called out to a job in Milngavie G62. The front door handle would not allow the door to open from the outside as the handle was just spinning round and not operating the latch. After removing the handles it was clear what the problem was. The square spindle that operates the latch on the lock had slipped and was only catching the inside handle. This had happened because when the handles were originally fitted the spindle that was used was too short. Simple solution, new spindle of the correct length fitted, problem solved.

Difficulty locking her front UPVC door - 6th August 2019

Lockforce Locksmiths was called out again to Blanefield, G63 by a returning customer who was having difficulty locking her front UPVC door. On inspection it was clear that the gearbox attached to the multi point locking system on the door was on its last legs. Unfortunately this particular locking system is now obsolete so a new universal multi point lock was adapted to suit the front door and the customer now has a good strong smooth operating lock complete with a new a time snap Eurocylinder offering the customer enhanced protection against potential thieves. 

Locked garage door  - 5th August 2019

Lockforce Locksmiths was called to a lady in Blanefield G63, who asked me if I could possibly get her " up and over " garage door to open as it was currently locked and the keys were lost, and she needed to get her car out. As I had access to the inside of the garage through a side door, the main door was easily opened. I was then able to remove the old lock and supply and fit a new lock from my van stock, enabling the door to be locked and unlocked easily.

Access to back door provided within 30 minutes, Glasgow G2 - 29 March 2019

Lockforce Glasgow received an urgent call from a customer in Milngavie stating that they were unable to open their back door. The call was attended within 30 minutes. The problem was just as the customer had said; the back door would not open because the latch had stopped working. The reason for the latch not working was because whoever had fitted the handle had used a spindle that was too short and after time the spindle had moved and the handle had nothing to turn. Simple solution; handle off, old spindle out, new spindle cut to the correct length in and handle back on. The result was a very happy customer.

Patio door secured in Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 – 25 March 2019

Lockforce Glasgow was recently called out to a job to look at a hardwood sliding patio door that the customer felt needed more security than the existing mortice lock provided. After attending the property and assessing the effectiveness of the existing lock, it was agreed that more security was required. A couple of high quality but simple push button locking bolts were supplied, which offered enhanced security.

The customer was delighted as it provided them with added peace of mind.

Lock upgrade in Helensburgh

I was called last week by an elderly gentleman in Helensburgh who could not get his UPVC door to lock. When I arrived at the house I was confronted with an old door and a lock that was in urgent need of attention. When I went through the locking procedure, I was able to lock the door but it was very stiff, the problem was the customer was unable to lock it as he did not have the strength. The mechanism was on it's last legs as were the handles, so after discussion with the customer, I fitted a new multi point lock, new handles and a new anti Snap Eurocylinder for extra security. After careful adjustment of all the keeps on the door, I was able to get the door to lock sufficiently easily that the customer could also lock it easily. The customer was delighted as he now felt much more secure.

Broken bollard in East Kilbride

Another interesting job last week was a call from a shopfitting company who were doing work on a new Halfords store in East Kilbride. This was an existing building that Halfords were moving in to, and outside the door that was to be used for goods in, there was a pair of heavy duty steel security bollards that when not required, dropped down below ground by removing a bullet type lock that fits at the top of the bollards. Unfortunately there were no keys for these locks. My task was to remove the old rusted locks and replace them with new ones that could be easily removed in order to give forklift access. After drilling out the old locks, new locks were supplied and fitted to the customer's satisfaction.

Two jobs, same day, same town, same problem!

Job one - Bearsden - The multipoint lock on their UPVC door would not lock. Problem, the gearbox which sits in behind the handles had failed. Solution, remove the handles, Eurocylinder, and the full multipoint locking mechanism, remove and replace failed gearbox. Reassemble all the components and upgrade Eurocylinder to a high quality anti snap Eurocylinder. 

Job two - Bearsden - Again the multipoint lock on their UPVC door would not lock, however the problem this time was that the latch on the gearbox had broken off. Solution, just as on the first job, remove handles, Eurocylinder, and the full multipoint locking mechanism, remove and replace broken gearbox. Reassemble all the components and again upgrade the Eurocylinder to a high quality anti snap Eurocylinder.

Had a call the other day from a gentleman whose first words to me were" Hi Bill, I need your help"

It was then established that his name was Jack and he had recently fallen in his house, was lying on the floor and could not move. He had been able to call the emergency services, explain the situation and advised them that he was unable to open his door. The Fire Brigrade arrived and proceeded to gain entry by destroying the lock on his back door Multipoint locking system, the paramedics got Jack off to hospital and the Fire Brigade re-secured the door. When I arrived at the property Jack explained to me all that had happened and that he needed to get his back door open. I was able to free off the seized locking system, get the door open and supply and fit a new locking system complete with new handles and an upgraded British Standard lock. Jack was delighted.
